1. Find the “Correct Subtitles” Option
On the subtitle page, look for the “Correct subtitles” link. If you’re the uploader, you might also see an “Edit” button. This allows you to make updates directly.
2. Update Incorrect Language
If the subtitle is tagged with the wrong language, you can change it to the correct one.
3. Correct the IMDb ID
If the subtitle is linked to the wrong movie or TV show, copy the correct IMDb URL and paste it in the designated field. Example: Change the ID from one movie to another by using the correct IMDb link (e.g., from http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0030337/ to http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0040109/).
4. Update the Release Name
You can add or correct the release name of the subtitle to ensure it matches the specific version of the movie or TV show (e.g., Arch.of.Triumph.1948.720p.BluRay.FLAC1.0.x264-DON).
5. Add Comments
In the comments section, you can provide a description of the file or give credit to the original author. These comments will be visible to other users.
6. Upload a Corrected Version
If you’ve made improvements to the subtitle, click “(update)” to upload the corrected file. This is only available if you’re the original uploader or if an admin grants permission. This allows you to update without needing to re-upload the file as a new submission.
7. Adjust the FPS (Frames Per Second)
If the FPS is incorrect, you can adjust it here to match the media file.
8. Username for Anonymous Uploads
If you weren’t logged in when uploading the file, you can add your username here.
9. For Hearing Impaired (HI) Subtitles
Tick this box if the subtitle is specifically for the hearing impaired.
10. High Definition Subtitles
If the subtitle is meant for a high-definition movie, you can check this box, although it’s optional.
11. Mark for Machine Translation
If the subtitle was translated using machine translation (e.g., Google Translate), you can flag it here. These subtitles can be marked for deletion according to platform rules.
12. Leave a Note for Admins
In the personal instructions box, provide details for the admin regarding why the subtitle needs correction or deletion. Use this space to explain what changes were made and why they were necessary. It’s helpful to write in English so any admin can handle the request efficiently.
13. Request Deletion
If the subtitle should be deleted due to poor quality or duplication, select the “Delete” option and explain the reason in the comment box.
14. Submit the Report
Once all the corrections are made, click “Report” to submit your request. The report will be reviewed by an admin before the changes are approved.
By following this guide, you’ll help improve the quality of subtitles on OpenSubtitles for the entire community. Please make sure to include as much information as possible so admins can quickly and accurately address the issue.
