OpenSubtitles User Levels: From Basic to VIP

OpenSubtitles has a tiered user level system that rewards active participation and offers additional benefits to supporters. This article explains the different user levels, how to progress through them, and the advantages of each level.

Basic Users

Sub Leecher
  • All new users start at this level
  • Can download a limited number of subtitles per day
  • Basic access to site features

Badge Levels

As users contribute subtitles, they earn badges that reflect their level of contribution:

Bronze Member
  • Achieved by uploading at least one subtitle
  • increased daily download limit to 50
  • Badge displayed on user profile
Silver Member
  • Achieved by uploading 51 subtitles
  • increased daily download limit to 100
  • Silver badge displayed on user profile
Gold Member
  • Achieved by uploading 101 subtitles
  • increased daily download limit to 200
  • Gold badge displayed on user profile
Platinum Member
  • Highest non-VIP level
  • Achieved by uploading 1001 subtitles
  • increased daily download limit to 300
  • Gold badge displayed on user profile
  • Platinum badge displayed on user profile

VIP Members

Users who want to support OpenSubtitles and gain additional benefits can become VIP members through a paid subscription.

VIP Benefits
  1. 1000 subtitle downloads per day
  2. No ads on the website
  3. Access to subtitle downloads in multiple formats (e.g., SRT, SUB, WEBVTT)
  4. Ability to download subtitles for entire seasons in one click
  5. Higher API usage limits (useful for developers and power users)
  6. Exclusive VIP badge displayed on user profile
  7. Priority customer support

Progression and Support
  1. Natural Progression: Users naturally progress through badge levels by contributing subtitles to the community. The more subtitles uploaded, the higher the badge level.
